Joe Root Recovers England after England lose five Early wickets
In the fourth test match against India, England recovered from a morning collapse to post 302 for Seven on day one. Joe Root scored an unbeaten century on Friday.
Dream debuts are just dreams as Akash Deep was tormenting the guests by dismantling both openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett – in the morning before; who finished his first bowling spell with figures of 3/70. Meanwhile, former England skipper Root stood tall with an impressive knock that lasted more than four hours but also faced 226 balls during his innings to score an unbeaten 106 against Indian bowlers.
Also accompanying him at the crease was Ollie Robinson (31 not out) when stumps were drawn. Earlier, after they stumbled to 112/5 under the attack of the new pace sensation for India and were struggling, Root and Ben Foakes put on a crucial partnership of 113 runs for the sixth wicket.
The debutant Akash Deep bowled three English batsmen namely Ben Duckett (11), Ollie Pope (0), and Zak Crawley (42) at quick succession after being dismissed off a no-ball. Jonny Bairstow struck an impressive thirty-eight off thirty-five balls including four boundaries and a Six before he was caught lbw by Ravichandran Ashwin (1/17).
Ignored It any case, Joe Root owns the day. It was the 31st Test century by Joe Root and his tenth century against India. In this regard, it has been a knock of a pure-class batsman reacting to balls in whatever way they bowled at him with no plans.
Skipper Ben Stokes (3) was caught in front of the wicket by Ravindra Jadeja (1/28) as India dominated the morning session. India are leading the five-Test series 2-1.
